Going Away!

As the title states, I am going away, for at least 4 years(Army). I plan on giving my truck to my parents since I have put waaay too much money into it to sell. I am going to pull the motor and fix the annoying *** leaky oil pan, and replace the oil cooler since it looks questionable and I would rather not leave it to them to deal with it.
Is there anything else I should do to it while it is out of the truck; preventative problems in the future type way. I know it sounds stupid to fix something that ain't broke but if it makes one less headache for my parents ill do it.
As always i appreciate any advice and input from you all!

Its never stupid to replace older parts, broke or not, when other issues cause you to have to do major work such as pull an engine. Front and rear main seals, front trans seal, slave cylinder, etc.

And thanks for your service to the nation.

Be safe bud, and Thank You for your service. Tell your parents if they have any problems with the truck, just give us a holler and we'll help them anyway we can.

galley plugs front and rear, if they have never been changed you need to get the plugs from riffraff or ford, they were updated and have a blue o ring. if yours all have blue o rings just change the o rings if not change plugs to update.

Sean,
Thank you for your decision Did you get to pick any special training or is it a case of you're gonna learn what the army wants you to learn? You may have a few moments of wondering "Why did I do this?" but in the long run I can guarantee that you won't regret it.

Bob,
I am going to be a 68W(Healthcare Specialist/Medic) with the hopes of either being a Nurse-->Nurse Practitioner or Paramedic-->Physicians Assistant

So I need 4 of these?
High Pressure Oil Rail End Plug & Gasket - Ford 7.3L (94-03)

which one of these do I need, my truck is a 1997 I don't know whether early or late?
Exhaust Back Pressure Tube EBP 94.5-Early 97
Exhaust Back Pressure Tube EBP 97.5-98
The cart so far....
https://www.riffraffdiesel.com/cart.php

I have a local hydrolic shop that will make my fuel/oil lines

For fixing the leaky oil pan, should i use a gasket plus a boat load of the International RTV?

Where do I find the Power Steering hose?

What grease/assembly lube do i need for the o-rings for the oil cooler? anything I missed, I'm rushing through this so I have enough time to get on some decent bass...LOL

I believe you need the first one of the EBPT but they did change some stuff late 97. Maybe you can eye ball the pictures and tell or call Clay. PS hose is at most auto parts stores, I've yet to hear about the best of the best for these darn things. A mixture of petroleum jelly and oil works good.

If the EBP sensor is up behind the HPOP reservoir, then it is an early '97. If the sensor is down on the cover to get to the HPOP gear bolt, then it is a late '97.
