Tonight-Stuck At Target

Friday night I went "out" to eat at the church for free and when I came out the truck wouldn't go into gear. It was stuck in park and I played with it to no avail, took the bus home and road my bike back and forth all night till I decided to call it quits even after I read about the secret trick of turning the key to accessories to shift to neutral and then go about my way. Then at midnight, I rode back down there, threw my bike in the back and drove home using that accessories method.
I checked the grounds, except for the one on the starter, then Sunday drove all the way to the west end of town to sit in the air conditioning at Target in their Starbucks store within a store. When I decided to leave it wouldn't shift once again and after finding out that the buses in this town don't run on Sundays I went back into the store to buy some dinner at the Pizza Hut store within a store.
I bot a tool set and some WD40 then kept going in and out of the store with a reusable shopping bag full of the tools and other supplies I was buying. I attempted to show all the receipts I was collecting to one of the cashiers but she said, "I believe you." The next time I walked in there to buy some Smart Water a security guard showed me where it was. Then after using the self checkout he wanted to see receipts for everything in my bag which I was saving in my wallet. Then on another trip inside the store I noted one of the employees with a basket full of "go-backs" had one of the same tool sets in the basket as if they are going to try to frame me.
I went back to the truck and just for the heck of it tried to put it in gear and it worked! I drove home and put my new tool set in the house.
Any thoughts?

Hello, and welcome to FTE! Unfortunately this isn't the proper forum, and maybe the cause you haven't got any answers yet. I already sent a request to have this thread moved to the right place. Enjoy the site.

Welcome to FTE

Just generally, there's oark/neutral switch somewhere to allow your truck to start when shifter is in park or neutral -- it could be broken or out of adjustment.

But, Encho is right -- you'll get a lot more action in the segment for your truck. Up near the top of the main forum page, you'll find a section that includes your year. If it was me, I'd just repost up there and not wait for the mods-- they're pretty busy. You'll find a lot more folks up there familiar with your particular vehicle.

Good Luck,

hj

leave out all the store / travel and tool stories... Just say " I started the truck and it would not go into gear"....... you have to have your foot on the BRAKE pedal before you try to shift... did you do that ? If so, then the truck is not seeing that step.. That's why it will work when in neutral start - then shift sequence. ---- BRAKE PEDAL / switch..check Krewats question.
