Good V Day?

Hope everyone had a good Valentines Day, Tried to work on my truck but decided quickly that if I didnt want to sleep in it I had better spend the day with my wife. We went out to eat, watched a movie (Chick Flick) and a couple of thing that most of you are to young to hear about. I hope everyone else had a Good V-Day

I agree with you. I got in a couple of early morning hours on the truck and then took the rest of the day off and did things with my wife. I rise earlier than my wife and can get a couple of hours in before she is up and at it.

My wife got me a present that says CRAFTSMAN in big letters on it. (Of course, it's not a tool I need or likely to use, but it's the thought that counts.) Isn't she swell?

The woman down at the hardware store reminded me that it was valentines day, and when I wouldn't buy a stuffed bear she steered me to the local grocery store for a card.

While I was looking through the cards (when did they get so expensive?) there must have been 5 or 6 men stop by and try to find just the right card. The younger guys bought the real mushy ones, and acted real serious about the whole thing, while the older guys seemed to resent having to do anything.

The funniest was an old farmer who lives down the road from me. The only card he could find that he liked was addressed to a girlfriend. He looked through the entire selection twice and finally gave up and selected the girlfriend one.

He told the group of us that he would just tell his wife he got the cards mixed up and she got the wrong one! I suggested he slip a $100 bill into it.

He even tried to get me to take one card that was addressed to a boyfriend - but living in California (even though we are rural and more like a mid-western farm town) I didn't have the courage.

btw, a $6 card, a gift certificate to the local hair dresser, and an expensive diner didn't work - should have saved the money, it would have gone a long way towards the carpet I want for my truck.

All I got for my trouble was a small bag of candy the doctor will not let me eat!

I refuse to do anything on Valentines day!! Ok, ok, I did go so far as to get her a card. To me Valentines day is a made up holiday....I like to refer to it as a "Hallmark" holiday. I think that the jewelry and greetings card industries have been propagating this holiday and forcing it on us poor saps. I set the precedent years ago with the wife and she pretty much agrees. She doesn't get me anything beside a card either. We do get the kids a small trinket though.
My wife's birthday and our anniversary are next month so I do it up big then, besides Valentines is too close after X-mas.

Just for general info...My wife and I have been together for 15 years and married for 10. I doubt she would ever leave me because if she did she would have to take half of my stuff.......

I thought I was only one that was told that. Guess that proves one thing. The more women are different the more they are the same

Bobby, I couldn't agree with ya more !!! But my wife hasn't agreed with my thoughts on this. SO.... I tend to do a little something extra for her, her smiles worth it I spose. I'm also pretty sure she wouldn't leave me over it, after 28 years togather, 25 married (in April) but I'm just not willing to take that chance.
note: all above typed with humor and very light hearted

Mike,
I know what you mean. I do take steps to keep the little woman happy. She's a keeper and treats me very well and lets me indulge in my old car hobby(among other things). With valentines day falling so close after X-mas and our anniversary coming in the middle of March (she quit having B-days...lol) I can get away with my "one man boycott of the coprorate propagated hallmark holiday of valentines day"

Woohoo...one small victory

Bobby

I agree on that with most holidays, Xmas we dont do much ($$ is a big factor) we just like spending it together, same with Vday, they are all holidays made to spend money, I dont buy cards-Why? She likes it even more when I say the same things the card says & I get a much better response !

At least I havent heard that some one really did mix up their wife and girlfriends card That would be Bad! REALLY, REALLY BAD
