'86 F250 with 351W-wood truck. Picked up a rebuilt c6 19 mos ago, ran fine since, this spring pulled motor, put in a new cam/lifters, etc. Just put it back in...
Issues with shifting. Bottom line is now with me manually shifting trans to P, then hooking up linkage, starting truck, all fine. Put it in R, goes fine. From there, can't get it out of R. Fresh DexII fluid, red, tires move so there's no lack of fluid obviously, newer filter not that long ago, modulator line hooked up, can't say I've tested the modulator itself though.
With the pan off staring at the driver side, when I put it into gear, as I go from P to L1, theres a tube type thing that slides toward the back of the truck. Going from L1 to P, that doesn't move at all. Does that need to be engaged in something?
Also, the rooster comb appears to be NOT riding on the roller, but just off, is it supposed to be centered on that roller?
That video seems to show my problem-my barrel thing doesn't return back, so, I'll check that tomorrow. I think it's not linked somehow. No idea what happened. Worked before I pulled the motor.
If the valve in the valve body does not move when you move the external linkage then the manual valve is disconnected and if the rooster cone is off the roller the linkage may be loose. Check the large nut it could be loose.
This is how the manual valve and the throttle valve engages the linkage on the other side of the valve body.
Got it-the rooster comb had bent when I removed the motor and trans, forgot to disconn the link to the transfer cage. Found a local trans shop that got me both the kickdown internal and the detent. Got it all going again...
