C6, Drive not working

C6, Drive not working
Hey everyone, im new here. I have a 79 f250 4x4 with a 460 and c6. The tranny worked fine except the linkage feels like it needs adjusting, sometimes its a little hard to find Reverse. Anyhow this morning i started her up, checked for leaks( just replaced the passenger side valve cover) backed her up(Reverse worked fine). Put her in one, went out my bumpy driveway, still fine, got on my private road and put it in second, still good. Getting ready to pull out onto the main road so i hit drive while moving and 20mph or so and it shifts back to first and wont upshift. Drive is basically a second first and sometimes it even feels like its halfway in nuetral(could be my imagination though). What gives??? The fluid levels good but the fluids a little copper colored, been meaning to service the tranny but doing other things to the old girl and just havnt yet. Thanks guys.
