Hi, im new here in this forum... I am here in Saudi Arabia working, purchased 8 months ago a 2007Ford Explorer xlt Advancetrac.
After 3 months of use problem from radiator to transmission have been done/ repaired. Then came an issue which till now have not been resolved.
I was driving one time going to office then suddenly indication of the wrench came out and engine stop showing fuel level low even fuel is actually full, 30sec. after it would again start. I brought it to a mechanic and diagnose shows pcm problem. so the mechanic change the harness because it had stick already with each other which caused the ram to be destroyed. computer box (2nd hand) was then change but still comes same problem. Now a new mechanic says when he diagnose it that the computer show incompatible, meaning its not the same as the old one. the explorer would sometimes run for a week without a problem, and the rest of the time it would just suddenly stop and will run again after 30sec. Could anyone help me please. Thanks and GODbless you.
normally the fuel level does not come on and go off that often.. Common failures one would expect to cause the problem would be a loose wire on the fuel tank conncection, a bad ground wire on the tank, or a faulty level resistor inside the tank it self. You normally would not expect the gauge or anything at the dash board end to be a problem. Its possible, but normally the problem is at the tank end. -- wire - plug- internal level resistor.
