Help noob with fuel problems
I was hoping to get some help on this new issue. i have a 1995 ford F250 with the 5.8l in it. a little background on the issue. last week i had a new side mount fuel tank installed. once i got the truck back the fuel guage was acting up, it was pegging all the way out and then would go back down. just very unpredictable needle movement. i figured that a wire had just gotten exposed getting a bad signal. i gave the truck an oil change this morning and then when i went to go and drive it about 3 hrs. later, it died out on me about a block down the road. it will start and idle fine, it just dies out when i get into the throttle. It runs fine on the rear tank. Is this a fuel pump problem? did the fuel pump go out, or is there a possibility that a wire is just not getting good signal (similar to the guage problem). since the truck is a chicago truck there is a rust problem, so could it just have a bad ground? i really have no clue as to how the wiring on these goes so i am really at a loss at where to start. any input at where to start looking would be great. i am leaving to drive the truck from florida to chicago on tuesday so i would love to get this fixed soon.

I would go back to the shop that did it and explain what's going on.
Hopefully, it's a quick fix and they will make it right.
I would definately investigate what Subford said as well.
