2016 transit 250 , just started it a few times during a cold snap, 0 degrees to 10 degrees outside, let it run for half an hour, shut it off , now start it to plow the driveway and have a check engine light? Anyone experience this? Only 15,000 miles.
I went to take it to my mech and stopped off at the store and the gas station, got back in and the engine light was off???. Took to the mech anyways, he scanned it and said it was a air - fuel mixture code, I told him about the cold starts for 15mins, until my remote start times out, he said these engines are picky to the extreme cold weather, and to not run it for that short of time during low low temps outside. I guess I have to hit the remote start twice to avoid a check engine light when it gets crispy cold outside, or just see if it goes away after a few drive cycles before I call him.
Don't know about your specific code, but not good at all to run it for only a few minutes like that. The oil doesn't have the chance to get up to temperature, which means it cools back down before any condensation can burn off. That's not specific to these engines, it's bad for all of them. Why start it up if you're not going to use the van? Only bad things can come from this.
That shouldn't cause the code though, do you recall exactly what the code was?
Agree on the trickle charger or "battery tender" for a vehicle that sits. My '91 BMW tends to run down the battery while sitting for a month in the winter but not so with a little wall wart powered charger on it.
If you have the chance to go drive it 20 miles, then start it up. You should be under warranty for some time to come, so if you have problems during the seasons when you really drive it, your dealer will tend to them.
I think I need to break my habit of thinking the van isn't going to start after sitting in sub zero weather for a few days, as my previous van was a 2008 e250 super duty 5.4, and that thing did not want to start, it would crank so slowly and then wine really loud for like 5 mins. I guess I can wait till the next polar vortex and see how it handles it without starting it once a day. I'll ask my mech what the code was next time I see him.
By the way what's the deal on wipers 29 inch on driver side and 19 on the passenger, had to special order them from the dealer. Geez. The first set I got from ford were to be universal , but they fiitted very sloppy in the arm as the connector was slightly smaller.

The wipers use a different type of connector than other Ford vehicles I've had in the past. I suspect this has to do with the "global" design. I ordered wipers from Rockauto for around $12 shipped, and they've been great.
