Good day all, the overly mild winter here in NJ has me pondering this....can I simply disconnect the ebpv system ? I'd like to leave it as is in case it does get cold, but with average 30+ temps in the morning it slows my commute, and is generally annoying. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.
You can unplug the solenoid and get a plug that goes on the pigtail to get rid of the code. I can't remember if you have to bailing wire the valve open or not. That's one of the first things I got rid of on my truck. I do miss that jet-like sound at high idle though.
I just deleteted mine cause I had to rebuild the turbo. IIRC it will always have oil in it hooked up or not so if you want to delete due to a leak that wont help. I had the turbo shop put on a non-ebpv outlet and bought the non-ebpv pedestal.
Thanks, I'm not looking to delete it, just disable it while the weather is nice, when its cold...whenever that might be, I want to be able to go back to the stock operation. I would hope that disconnecting the system would not automatically close the valve. Just wondering if anyone has tried it with no adverse effects
I bought the plug in resistor fix from one of the sponsors...some have built their own. I did my delete last weekend and used that product. Not codes, lights or trouble to date.
The valve will remain open if you unplug the solenoid at the pedestal.
If you are so inclined, you could cut the ground wire at the connector and insert a toggle switch. If you leave the switch in the open position then the PCM will not be able to close the exhaust back pressure valve. Closing the switch will allow normal operation. This method would surely result in some soft codes stored in the PCM....not really an issue but just an FYI.
