I haven't looked. I picked up a new Moog u-joint that matches the left image you posted.
I assume these are the factory u-joints; the +/- thing may be specific to Spicer, I'm really not sure. In any event, the new one doesn't have them either. I'm going to have to mic the new caps and compare them to the old to verify they're the same.
Well I got the new u-joint installed with little trouble and got the truck put back together. Took it for a test drive, it does drive better. No more weird feeling in the steering. No more crunching/scraping noises. Score for me.
However, it does still make a squeaking noise when going over potholes or bumps. It sounds like a squeaky shock or something though, not like a busted wheel bearing or rock stuck in the brakes like it did before.
Unless it starts driving weird again, I'm probably not going to worry about it.
The squeak could be a range of things. Have you greased the chassis components lately? Ball joints, tie rods? I often spray a suspected squeak source with WD40 to see if the squeak temporarily goes away, if it does then I put that part on the list of future repairs. If it doesn't, I try the next suspect. Of course, this isn't perfect and some parts cannot be reached with a spray, but it's something to try.
I haven't, I know it needs to be done though. All the ball joints are greasable, I'm pretty sure tie rods are, and so on. After working 10 hour days and then spending 3 hours in the rain messing with the truck, I just called it quits after my test drive.
