I have a for pickup with 200,000 mis on it. I woke up this morning and I tried to start I by it just kept cranking and cranking and nvr Turner over but it tried a few times. It nvr did start but a few hours later it finally turned over and ran great when I tried it. For the past couple weeks it's been taking a few cranks to run by not to bad ,and it has died while driving it. I have replaced the distributor tac and rotary ,I have replaced a couple agencies but im still having this problem. I tried to look for the cam and crankshaft sensor but the crankshaft sensor seems to be gone and I can find the cam shaft sensor if ther is one. Does anyone has any idea as of wha I should check next ? It's not a fuel problem
I have made sure the fuel is getting too the cylinder, replaced the fuel pump, and u can smell the gas coming out of the exhast while you are trying to start it.
when you do get it started it seems to run fine and start fine ,but if u let in cool off then it doesn't want to start back up and I have the same problem all over again. whe you are cranking it and don't get it to start,it seems that if u wait a couple hours it will start up just fine ,but after it has ran if u let it cool then it has the same issue
the tac seems to me jumping around ,what could cause that ? or could that be an issue?
and what do u think about the starting modual? I am open for any sudjestions ,thank you
you could still have a fuel pressure problem since you haven't actually put a fuel pressure gauge on it.
you are going to need a better troubleshooter than me, but until one of the gurus steps up to the plate, advise which engine and transmission you have so that they can better assist you.
Sorry just typos, I'll watch closer. I will check spark soon, I think the spark might be jumping
Does anyone know right off hand if a mustang block and pickup of the same firing order?
If your truck is a 351, it's almost guaranteed not to be a "Mustang Block". The 351 Windsor was only used in Mustangs for a couple of years during the late 1960s, and that was it.
