I have a 2004 F250 6.0 turbo that has developed a bad jerk and jolt at at around 1750 rpms or 40-45 mph . The garage told me injectors #2 and #4 were bad and recommended replacing all injectors @ a cost of approximately $3,000.00 . Is it really necessary to replace all injectors and would a treatment of Stiction Eliminator help the problem. I don't know much about diesel engines so please Help !

Stiction is a cold engine problem for the most part and usually clears up as oil temperature increases. The other common problem with injectors is damage on the fuel side which is caused by low fuel pressure resulting in the pintal being damaged which requires the injector to be replaced. Fuel pressure lower than 45 psi can cause this damage, the fuel pressure needs to stay above 45 psi at all times including wide open throttle. Before I replaced all 8 injectors I would want to know what the fuel pressure is while driving under wide open throttle condition because I sure would hate to hit the new injectors with low fuel pressure. This would be a good time to do the blue spring upgrade for the fuel pressure regulator.
If it were me I think I would roll the dice and just replace the 2 injectors, mainly because I do my own wrenching and if I get down the road a month and have another one go out the only thing I'm out is my time whereas if you are unable to do it yourself you will have to pay them labor again to go back in.
OEM reman injectors is what you should put in there and they are about 200 each so 1400 in labor seems high to me.
Thanks mustang 309 for the advice . So you don't think the Stiction Eliminator would help the problem. By the way my truck has 186,000 miles on it. It is in great shape otherwise.

I really don't think it would help, every time I've experienced that bucking/surging it ended up being an injector. The problem is when its damaged on the fuel side you can have the injector hang open which can cause major damage like hydro lock.

I would like to clarify one of my statements, I would not install ANY injectors before you verify the fuel pressure and fix any issues with the fuel system.
