fuel injector problem

fuel injector problem

the injector #1 on my motor is bad so im gonna replace them all. just wondering, would the injectors from an 89 5.0 fit my 89 4.9? thanks.

Sure they will fit, but they are the wrong ones. 5.0 uses 19lb injectors, and the 4.9 uses 12lb.

You could put 19lb injectors in if you put an adjustable fuel pressure guage in and drop the pressure to around 39 psi. (The factory fuel regulator for the 4,9 and 12lb injectors is set for 55 - 60 psi)

I think there is a hop up article somewhere on this site concerning the 19lb swap.

It's probably just easier to slap the 12lb ones back in and be done with it.

are there any noticible gains from switching from the 12lb to the 19lb injectors? power, fuel econemy, etc

Why replace ALL of the injectors?!?!? That will cost a pretty penny.....I'd replace the bad one and just clean the rest. I clean mine every other oil change.....just pull them and spray them with some carb cleaner.....then put some vaseline on the o-rings and reinstall.

because i have the injectors to replace them with. didnt cost me anything. so why not?

I have a slight hunch that using the higher pressure in the stock injectors might improve fuel atomization too...
