Hmmm. Dang it. Looks like using the Bakflip MX4 just about negates having the CHMSL camera for using a 5th wheel. Not sure what to do. I don't back up to a 5th wheel more than a handful of times a year, so I wouldn't call it a total deal breaker. This does put one more egg in the basket for Retrax.
I don't need the camera to see the B&W Patriot but do need it to see the gooseneck ball. With the Bakflip laying horizontal I could probably see the fiver hitch but not the ball. With it vertical I couldn't see either one.
I am now looking at the Retrax One MX. Does anybody have this one? Is is easy to remove the canister? What does it weight?
Will the pin hitch hit the rails that the Retrax rides on?
Bat4x4 - let us know how you like it. My only hold-up with the Retrax is the canister size. The Roll-n-Lock and American Roll Up are both smaller, giving that little extra space for coolers, luggage, boxes.
I am now going with the Pace Edwards Switchblade. The canister is 10 x10" and weighs 20 lbs. It does protrude above the bed 2" but I can live with that as the switchblade is fairly easy to remove.
The Jack Rabbit is about 11.5 x 10.5" weighs 25 lbs for the canister and weighs 25 lbs. It is harder to remove and install. Advantage is it doesn't protrude above the bed. Disadvantage is heavier and more time to remove.
Also found out that Leer has the same cover called Richocet and both Leer and Pace Edwards are owned by the same company
I just ordered the retrax pro mx today and I can't wait to get it to keep my hunting stuff in there and everything else I need.
I have a Retrax MX Pro on my '15, been a terrific cover. The canister is big, but it doesn't bother me. The cover is tough as nails, really well made. I just like the idea of the small toolbox on the American work Cover Jr...Retrax needs to do this.
Thanks she is awesome, but wish she didn't pick 1 - 4 am to play! We will get her past that though.
OK, so guys folded the bed cover all the way up put a Orange puck (orange weed wacker string) on the puck. First pic is with the cover against the cab.
The second is from the camera looking into the bed while opened, and the third is with the cover all the way up with one panel open. This would be the clip in position to give you 3/4 of your bed.
Hope this helps others, so far really like it and we had a down pour here today and not one drop in the bed.
Bowler304, thanks for the great info for the short bed crowd! I was hoping you could recreate these pictures with the puck placed further back in your bed to simulate the goose neck location in a long bed? As far as I know, the Bakflip is the same height when folded with a short bed as with a long bed, just with one more panel. The difference between the two beds is in front of the axel so the goose neck ball is further from the camera in a long bed pickup. I'm no mathematician, but if the cover is the same height, you might be able to see the ball in a long bed.
I ordered a MX4 and expect to use it with CHMSL...
How so? The pictures show that you can't see the puck I'd love to use the MX4 because I like the sleek look and price, but if I can't see the puck, I'll go Retrax.

Does the MX4 still block the camera if it's flipped up against the cab? Has anyone confirmed this?

Do not intend to flip up against the cab...leave at last fold.

I had the pace Edward cover on my last two trucks and they both only lasted 3 years, i will not buy those again. Thats why I am getting the retrax pro mx.
Bowler304 showed - on page 7 - the two pictures everyone wants to see.
1) The MX4 raised all the way to the glass doesn't cover the camera, but it obscures the image of the 5th wheel puck.
2) The MX4 flipped to the 3/4 position (1 flip from being all the way on the glass) isn't enough to show the puck.
IMO - the Bakflip MX4 renders the CHMSL Camera obsolete for viewing the 5th wheel bed prep.
The camera could still be used to view cargo in the bed, or a trailer on the bumper hitch, but the MX4 covers the CHMSL in all configurations. Thats what I see from Bowler's pictures on page 7.
