PHP Hydra question

Is the square switcher for the Hydra the same size as the DP F6? I have the F6 now but want to go a different route and I have a hole in my dash for the F6 already so was hoping the Hydra was the same.

They are not the same size.

Well that sucks. Planing on doing some injectors and the price DP wants for the return of each tune I have I might as well buy something else plus the only tune that shifts good on my DP is the 80eco the rest slam into gear especially the 60 tow I thought something broke the first time so I don't use it anymore a few years ago they sere wrote the tune wich made it a tiny bit better but still not great. And I like the idea of the Hydra using different tuners if need be. Just kinda done with the F6. I thought I saw somewhere that if you add upgrades like injectors with the Hydra they will re write the tunes you already have for free?

I know that Gearhead will give you fee updates to follow along with any mods or upgrades you make. Not sure about any of the other programmers, or what is actually contained within the vaults of PHP's tube library (which you automatically have access to when you buy the Hydra)

Yeah but I have the older F6 and only DP tunes can from what I understand be put on it and from what I have read on there website it's $30 per tune to have it changed for different injectors wich ads up and if I decide to make more upgrades gotta pay for it again.

PHP Hydra from GearHead is what I have and am very happy with it. I just asked last week what they needed when I go to a single shot injector and they told me the serial number on the chip (gained through the software easily) and the mods I have done. No charge, no hassle, very little wait time.

This is for as long as I own the chip...

Sorry that you are experiencing the same thing that others have too. I decided to save my transmission also.

Email updates are great as long as the new tunes address the problems that they were sent to address.

Matt does a great job and generally is "spot on" the first time that you get a tune. Updates are FREE! The generic tunes in the PHP library are decent for the most part.

That does add up especially if you enjoy modding the things that tunes affect frequently.

Good to know that "some" things don't change.

I'm using the Hydra, but with the DP gauge mount from Riffraff.

I went through the same process just a couple of months ago. Below is a link to the thread I created about it and what I ended up with in the end.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...el-really.html

Basically, I bought the gauge pod mount from RiffRaff because I could not get DP to respond to messages or calls. I was charged $2.50 shipping from Oregon to GA by RiffRaff where DP wanted over $12 and DP is actually about 60 miles down the road from where I live.

I liked the product that DP created, but the support was very sub-par and Clay came though for me as a re-seller.

Who's injectors are you planning on getting? We've offered free tuning upgrades for injectors and other mods when the mods are purchased through us ever since we started selling injectors and other mods roughly 8 years ago.

By chance do you have an aftermarket shift kit? I ask based on your explanation of how the tunes feel. 80 DD has lowered trans pressures and the tow tunes have raised shift points and trans pressures for towing.

You can message me your name or order number and I'll check out what the tunes are set up for.

So if I ordered the Hydra with gearhead tunes I would also be getting the PHP tunes to put on it pretty much. I see there are plenty of tuners that tune for the Hydra wich would also be nice.

The Hydra switch is not an exact fit in the DP dash mount - the cable is in a different location and the switch is slightly wider. A little trimming is needed either on the Hydra switch or the F6 mount, plus you need to make a hole in the dash-mount frame for the cable.

Yeah I have the JMS mount in my 650 dash I think I can get away with cutting a hole and putting the guage type switcher in there to cover it up.
