Yup, I know a 2 wheel drive will get better mileage, and I wanted another 2 wheel drive, but I was looking for another 5.0 Super Crew, and it had to be Kodiak Brown.
I sure can understand that Bob........ but your 2013 is very nice as well. I did like the color of your 2011.....
Hi yinz! Been a while since I checked in here, mostly because I haven't done much with the truck, except drive it. Been too busy to do any fun stuff. But a few months ago I did treat the undercarriage to some Fluid Film to keep the salt off during the winter. You know what? It's working! The rest of the truck is a filthy mess right now, but the frame and suspension components are still black and shiny! I love this stuff!
Thanks Russ. It brings a tear to my eye when I see what it does to our vehicles and our roads I'm fighting a constant battle with a rust on both of our vehicles. I used to live in Virginia where they don't use salt during the winter, so nothing rusts. Every winter I ask myself why I moved up here. Bottom line: I couldn't afford to live in Northern Virginia, and Pittsburgh has always been home
looks good.....glad you are trying to keep rust away............... I probably wont drive my truck until spring. If I can help it my truck will never see salt as long as I own it
I wish I could do that. Unfortunately my trucks usually see more miles during the winter than any other time of the year. If my wife and I go anywhere together, that's what she feels the safest in. So during the winter, my trucks usually get rode hard and put away wet. And filthy! My chrome wheels are brown right now, ugh!
Last time I washed my truck was over a month ago and it's still basically clean since the temps have been below freezing (well below). You gotta love the frozen iced over streets..no road grime! But it's like driving on a ice rink with maybe a little gravel here and there.
Russ I heard one that in your part of Alaska, on the shortest day of the year you only have 2 hours of actual daylight. Is that really true? Cause I can't imagine that.

Yesterday was solstice and at my location in South Central AK we have about 5 hours of daylight. The further you go north the more hours you loose. Fairbanks has about 3 1/2 hours of daylight. I've been in Prudhoe Bay in January when the sun never came up (they get about 30 days with no sunlight) That said you do get light on the horizon so it's not pitch black but it's not bright by any means.
It pays off in the summer when it's like 12 noon outside at 2 am!
I think that would really throw off a persons inner clock wouldn't it? Seems strange to me but that's because I'm not used to it.
Anyway the truck is getting new front brakes now. I had ordered Powerstop pads and rotors for it a few months ago thinking I would do it myself when I had time. But when the brakes started making some unhealthy noises a few days ago coming home from work I knew they weren't going to wait. So my mechanic is doing it now. I don't have time right now and it's too cold. So I'll pay someone else to do it in their heated garage
I'd like to know if there really in an issue with the brakes on the newer trucks.
I haven't had any problems with the 2011, or the 2013. Hope I didn't speak too soon.

Bob, I'm also wondering if it's a regional thing? If it has to do with how much moisture is getting inside the caliper, or the pistons? Or if any of that ice melt crap is getting in there and eatin' away at seals from the inside? IDK
