The gear seems to spin ok. No binding. It seems to me though that when I cover the holes and check the pressure just with my fingers....that it's not pumping much. When I put the drill on it and then cover the holes then I can feel one intake and one out. But that's spinning pretty fast.

Isn't the path of l.p. oil from the lpop to the regulator to the oil cooler then to the filter? As long as there's no hole in the back of the oil pump housing and the is reguator is good, any shrapnel that makes it through the lpop should lodge in the oil cooler, shouldn't it?

Have you checked the oil pickup?

How did the inside of the front cover look when you pulled the LPOP? If that got scored up too bad that can prevent the LPOP from picking up oil if the clearances are too large. When you pulled the oil pan did you remove the pickup tube and if so did you make sure the oring was still in good shape and still there?

Will it pump oil up to the oil filter now? And what are the cranking RPM's? If it's not cranking fast enough ( > 150 I believe ) it won't start.

How did the oring on the pickup tube look? If that is allowing air into the pickup tube it will prevent the LPOP from picking up oil.

Is there anyone in the Michigan area that might know where I can get my hands on a used pump. A new on is a bit out of reach for me at this point.

Not sure if this is going to solve my lpop problem but according to the scan gauge reading I have no pressure and need to get this solved.

Where in Michigan? Go to the Michigan Chapter and post there. Most of us are not as active on the weekends, but you can send a PM.
