Okay,
I bought an Ex about a month ago and have had nothing but headaches and buyers remorse. As my dad said to me...First let me say mechanically it is A+ but I am running into other things. Has a 2" lift kit so who would of thought I would need to jump up on the running board and look at the roof...Major Roof damage has been repaired poorly with bondo, paint, and clear coat. I suppose a tree fell on the roof at one time all but crushing it and I am sure it has a new shield. On the top of the windshield I see there is about 1/16" gap between the shield trim piece and the top of the body"roof" this is about 16" long when inspected from the top. My concern is that it will surely leak if it ever rains. What could I used to fill it in or is there another seal piece I could add to it?
I imagine RTV black would work nicely. Also, we like pictures - they work wonders for online help and suggestions on unusual problems.
While that is a 'temporary fix' the more permanent solution is to replace the windshield and the seal.
When I bought mine the seal was curling up in the corners. If it has been like that for any period of time, moisture can get behind and start to rust behind the glass. The only way to know and to prevent further damage is to detach the windshield and reset a new windshield and seal. Most installers can't get the old glass out without breaking it so it ends up being a $300 job.

The way I interpreted it is that there's been roof damage and the windshield channel may not be in original shape. I thought about a new seal as well, but given the above information I doubt a seal designed for an un-tweaked channel would work at sealing things up properly.

Check. Comes back to that 'picture' thing. If the channel is distorted then some rtv would be the answer.
