Windshield Molding?

Gentlemen,

I got tired of putting up with my sons attitude every time I wanted to use my old truck, his truck now, so I bought another truck. Its a 2002 f350. Its got a few little issues to deal with. Nothing major, mostly cosmetic. Any way, one of the issues is the molding on the top of the windshield is torn and I can tell that the previous owner tried to use silicone to seal it up. It most likely leaks when it rains. How should I fix this? Do I have to get a new seal, remove glass, install seal and windshield? Where can I get a new seal?

Thanks

Gilbert

Because of the headache(S) a leaking windshield can create I leave that to a professional. Done once done right.

New windshield will include a new moulding, it's almost next to impossible to remove the windshield intact. Call SafeShield.

I will get a pro to do it. I just didn't realize that a windshield came with a rubber seal. So does that mean that I will not be to just buy the seal and have some one remove glass and reinstall with seal?

No need to buy the seal as it comes with the new glass, pre-installed.

You have to get a new windshield to replace the seal? If that's the case I guess I should get a new windshield since my weatherstripping is completely missing and it's monsoon season here in Phoenix. I was going to wait until later this year but I have a few cracks so I guess I could do it. If you replace the windshield, do t go with places like Safelite. Call places that do good glass work and won't give you that thinner crap. They should be able to work it out with your insurance company.

As has been mentioned, removing the glass is difficult to do without breaking it. Talk to some your local windshield replacement companies and see what they say.
