E4OD PROBLEMS NEED ADVICE.

E4OD PROBLEMS NEED ADVICE.
So I have the beloved E4OD trans . It is throwing an excessive TC slippage code. It does in fact fell like it doesn't even lock up at all. But it is also slamming into drive, reverse and slams through the gears like it has a ridiculous shift kit. Would a bad TC make the TCM increase line pressure? Or should I start with the TC and look for a problem to address the shifts internally? I bought the truck needing a engine in good shape for $700 and a bottle of whiskey. Now I am a engine, diffs (rear blew up so I rebuilt and re geared both) and starting to think trans deep into the truck. Any input is appreciate. Starting to think I should look into a manual conversion.

When the slip code sets the PCM sets line pressure high. That is causing your harsh shifts.
What does the front of the torque converter look like? Is it blued? If the converter is slipping the front face of the converter usually gets hot enough to show some blueing.
The '94 and older E4OD converters were prone to cracking the TCC apply clutch. That allows the clutch to slip, which will set the code and make pressures go high.

When it's rebuilt, just make sure the shop upgrades it to the 96/97 E4OD parts in it, they're much improved. There are even some 4R100 parts that superseded the E4OD parts, and are called for in a rebuild.
You can put a TransGo shift kit if you prefer firm shifts. Some people do, some people don't.

when it comes to the e4od,you never want to assume the worst and jump to conclusions.if feels like crap right now because the ecm has commanded the high line pressure.this doesn't just mean the trans is done for.
