beating a DEAD horse...

A wiring question about the 2g to 3g swap...there is a lot of info out there and some of it is very confusing. I have done these on MANY trucks(67-79 though) and i have always Hooked the black/orange wires back up because they were what supplied the cab with power.
Now on my 89 the diagrams I have seen show 2 bl/or wires leading from the alternator to a fusible link to the starter solenoid...is THAT correct? If so, cant I just eliminate the black/orange wires all together? They are just the charge wires right? They dont do anything else?
Thanks

Notice the Black/Orange wires are not used on a 3G.

3g swap in one sentence:

Connect the green wire the same way and connect everything else to the battery.
