Not sure about that.... oil filter is $20 at Walmart.
Don't forget to command the IPR closed. Watch Diesel Tech Rons video on how to air test.

Ok, so after watching the video, I hooked up the air line to the icp adapter, and got air coming out of my oil fill tube. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I've probably got a leak in the passenger side HPOR.

What's bugging me though is that when I used my automotive stethoscope on the driver's side valve cover, I swear I hear a hissing noise there as well. Any thoughts?

Did you command the IPR closed?

Fix any air leak you find. Dummy plugs and standpipe most likely the issue.

Ok I tried to remove the stand pipe with the rail in place at the advice of my brother in law who is a master mechanic, but the lower piece was really stuck in the rail. I pulled the oil rail and got the longer piece out. The o rings looked fine, but I'm going to buy a new stand pipe and install everything, and retest with pressure.

If you can't find what you're looking for at the local dealer, or if you want to save a little, you may check our site for part number 6E7Z9A332A. I believe that is the stand pipe you're looking for. If you want dummy plugs too you'll be looking for part number W302908.

Well, I replaced the stand pipe and dummy plug and hooked pressure back up. So gurgling, sounds near the front. Going to pull the rail back off and check injector o-rings I guess?

Well, it's back up and running better than ever since I've owned it.

At the end of the day, the culprit was 2 of the O-rings on the top of the injectors on the passenger side. Just for anyone looking, those are available at o'reillys part # 247806 for $5.99. I just got back from a nice long drive and it is running like a champ. I will be buying new o-rings for all 8 injectors as soon as I get back from my vacation and replacing them all, along with the driver's side stand pipe and dummy plug.

I want to personally thank you guys for all of the help and encouragement, especially WatsonR. I doubt I would have tried to tackle this job on my own without the help. I just hope that anyone who has the same problem reads this and saves themselves some time and money.

I'm glad to hear that it all worked out and your truck is running well for much cheaper than having it done at a shop.

Glad to see you figured it out!

Just curious was it visual inspection or more air testing that led you to finding the bad seals on those injectors?

Its threads like these I'll be referring to one day when my 05 decides to do something like this to me
