c6 transmission....

just curious can anyone tell me what the 24 that is on the top of the bellhousing on my c6 transmission means ????

It means that your transmission case was cast in die #24. The only time that would have been important is if there were problems with the case in the transmission plant, then they would know which die had a problem. Once the trans is assembled that number doesn't mean anything.

Good info...I have had numerous transmissions sitting side by side with different casting numbers on them and couldn't find any differences in them other than the number. Most explanations I have heard were pure speculation and thus were not very feasible...thanks for the clarification.
