Wiring Harness

Well just started tearing into my 66 and found out the PO thought himself to be an electrician. Wires spliced everywhere and aluminum foil in the fuse box. My question is does anyone have any suggestions on a wiring harness kit? I have found a couple I'm considering the american autowire kit and a Ron Francis kit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First and Foremost; Welcome to FTE! I will be interested in what other member's comments; I am not familiar with the Ron Francis Kit, many-many years ago did purchase American Autowire harness for the engine, alternator, and taillight, pleased with the quality, same wire color codes and connectors. If considering adding additional circuits may want to factor that in when making decision?

If the dash harness is not too damaged and decided to make repairs suggest using plastic ties to keep the truncated circuits separate; in addition, use non adhesive harness tape and secure with end electrician tape.

Again, welcome and looking forward to your input!!

American Autowire, I installed in my 66 over a couple of weekends. Well worth buying the crimper and soldering all the connectors. Also get some heat shrink over the crimps etc.

All wire clearly labelled, loads of spare, all new switches etc. Worth every penny

Also worth getting real of there tape and load of different sizes of copex. American Autowire sell a braided sleeve which is good also

Any questions give me a shout, i've wired mine throughout, ripped every wire out and replaced. I'm a data engineer by trade, so no problems

Imagine since I purchasing the wire harness many years ago the kits have changed, back then there was no need of soldering, or crimping connections, just a matter of unplugging one harness and plugging in the replacement; imagine adding addition circuits would include some additional soldering and crimping. Found adding a dab of dielectric grease to external connectors seem to help prevent them from accumulating moisture and the pins from rusting??

I used a Ron Francis kit. It went in very smoothly. Their tech support was great and the quality for the kit was tops in my opinion.

I m an electrician and wouldn't do that type of work, I'd say it was hacked! I used the ez wire harness in my 64 and it was good quality and quite easy to install.

Sorry wasn't meaning to make it sound like I was comparing the work he did to something an electrician would do. I was being sarcastic with that comment.

Hahaha. It's athletic wear and they sell these black tights that are workout pants and people wear them everywhere because there comfy. It's mostly girls that wear them and there was a controversy that when larger people wear them they're kinda see thru, which is why I say anybody can wear them but not everyone should. You can google it you shouldn't get anything inappropriate. Lol
