I recently bought a 2009 F150. After I bought it I started noticing a hard down shift from 4th to 3rd. After a lot of reading on here I decided to get the software updated to the newest version. The technician that did the update told me that it was a stupid idea and it will never run right again. I said if that's true why didn't you call me and discuss it with me. He just does the work listed on the work order. I haven't picked it up yet. What are your thoughts. Are software updates a good idea? Has anyone out there had their truck run bad after an update ? Why would ford put out updates if it's going to make thins worse?
This 09-14 forum page is sure different from the superduty forum. If you post a thread on there the responses just come pouring in. On this one theirs not much action.
Well, you know how computer updates go. The software engineers in an attempt to fix something usually end up breaking something else. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If there was an update available it was to fix an issue. I highly doubt it will have any adverse effects.
Well i think he had me worried for nothing. Seems to run fine and the hard shift from 4th to 3rd is gone. I'll get it out on the highway and see how it does. When I told the technician that I read about the updates on a forum he got a little mad and said that everyone should stay off the forums. A few years ago we got a letter from ford to do a software update on our five hundred. Didn't notice any change at all from that update.
