Read this on the FoMoCo KTP forum. Sounds like they are beginning to get going again.
"We ran the full 8 in body today! Ran like a scalded dog...507 through cab skid load! Was told by supervisor we will go 8 hrs all week so we can be off friday! "
507 units in one day? It's still way under capacity but at least they're moving. Another poster:
"We were told today in u-trim by the union that EVERYBODY will be working next week and back to normal work."
If this is true, they're coming back up faster than some of the early reports of being down through mid-May.
That's great to hear, especially when you consider that there are over 30,000 units on order that customers are still waiting on! I want these trucks to land in people's laps so that we can start hearing more "real-world" stories about how these trucks really perform......and not just on a test drive!
Here's a post from a union rep at KTP today. Tough times trying to balance work loads for employees.
"When this was being worked out, it was believed that the plant was going to be down to one shift for at least a month, and possibly even longer. We told the company that being down to one shift that long we wanted to rotate the down weeks between crews....
Remember we did this on the information that it would be a month or longer.
They are now redirecting the chips so that KTP should be able to run both shifts now....
We will work 4x10's next week in final. After that it looks like we will be running too much OT to do that , they will be trying to make up all the lost production so we will probably run 5x9.5"
Nice to know Ford has redirected the chips from other products to the SD. This is what Chris meant when he said they are doing everything they can to restore production. Also good to know they are working to "make up all the lost production..." Maybe we'll get our trucks sooner than later?
Interesting news.
I was informed today no 4x4 trucks were being built at this time.
I guess we'll see. I'm at 8 weeks without a VIN tomorrow morning and my dealer checks daily so I couldn't ask for more outstanding service from them.
Come on KTP, lets speed things up!

RE: Production Schedule: May 3 – May 7
The KTP Production Schedule for next week (5/3/10 – 5/7/10) is as follows:
Body/Paint/Pre-Trim and Associated MP&L employees:
Regular Schedule – All Shifts Working
Final Area and Associated MP&L employees:
Includes Pre-Delivery, Trim (all), Frame, Chassis
2 shifts
4X10 Schedule.
Potential for 10.7 Line Time on #3 Shift
6AM Start 4:30PM Start
Final Area #2 #3
"Next week the plant will return to full production. The week will also be the trial to see if the plant can support a four day ten hour production schedule. The two shifts in final will work four ten hour production days with start times of 6am for #2 and 4:30pm for #3 shift. Paint, Body, and Skilled Trades will work their regular schedule. I hope that this trial will show that when the plant is going to work forty hours that we can support this schedule. This is something that we have been working on with the company for a while and I know that we can do it. In order to work four ten hour production days off the end of the chassis lines, the rest of final may need to work up to 10.7 hours to meet this demand. The week of May 10, 2010, the plant will return to the traditional five day schedule for the final area. The plan is to work overtime on a 9.3 hour production schedule off chassis to make up lost production from the part shortages of the past couple weeks.
