PCM update

After reading some of the post, I believe my 05 F-150 needs the PCM update. As far as getting this "reflashed" by the dealership, how long do they take? i can't imagine taking the process longer than 10 minutes...And also, is it a noticeable difference in shifting wise? I have a 4.6 and it takes forver to shift into 3rd

It takes just a few minuntes to get it done, all they have to do is just hook up their black box and run the new updated software into your PCM. The dealer does get these updates everyday from Ford on their computer.
And if I had to I would pay the $100.00 for it if it made my older truck drive like the new ones do!!

If you are in good with your service department you might be able to get them to do it for ya for Free.
I had my 97 reflashed at least 3 times and never have been charge for it. But I do know the manager very well and do buy my trucks from them.
It does pay to get in good with the service department, when things like this come up they will just do it for ya.

if its an "update" and I still have warranty, why would it not be free? Why would Ford charge us for something that they forgot to do input? An update is a better and more redefined version of the the previous version. To be technical, it would be their "fault" that we dont have the updated version and that we have to suffer from the lack of the updated software. It is definitely not our fault that shifting is crappy on these trucks

If it's still under warranty, go in and complain about a driveabilty issue, engine or trans related. The first thing they will do is hook it up to check for codes and update the software if there's an update available.

If it's under warranty there shouldn't be any charge just tell them that it's got a hesitation or driveability issue's they reflashed mine twice at no charge.
