I had my 1966 F350 fail to start on the weekend. Finally got it down to the switch. I did no work previous to the no start and by twisting the switch I got it operating. Last year I replaced the locks and switch with no issues but looks like the switch is flaky. Can I get a NOS switch and how do I get the switch out of the dash.
To remove the switch from the dash
1. turn the key to the Acc position
2. Insert a small piece of wire or paper clip into the small hole just below the key and depress the small spring loaded button inside the lock
3. Turn the key even farther counter clockwise while pushing in with the paperclip.
4. Now pull the key straight out and the whole lock cylinder should come out with it
5. Then reach under the dash and push the switch towards the seat and twist it a quarter turn while holding the bezel to the dash with your other hand.
Then The switch should just come right out from under the dash
You can get a NOS switch if you have a good part #, probably from Early Ford parts, or that place down in Waxahachie (NOSpartsltd.com) or maybe eBay.
This would be by far the best choice, as aftermarket electrical parts have long been a gamble, but especially these days with all the overseas crapola parts.
