Neither. The tag is indicating a 10.25" limited slip differential with a 4.10 ratio.
The 4L10 is the ratio with the "L" designating LS.
The next numbers are the ring gear diameter.

V131A = Sterling WFD 10.25" rear axle with Limited Slip.
5H05 = Assembled August (H) 5, 1985 (5).
9" installed in 1957/83 F100, 1975/86 F150, 1966/86 Bronco, 1969/74 E200, 1975/87 E100/150 & misc 1957/80 Passenger Cars.
8" introduced in 1962 Fairlane/Meteor V8, only installed in misc. 1962/80 Passenger Cars.

From your screen name (and the 10.25" axle tag) I assume you have an F-250 which, as Bill listed, wouldn't have a 9". Also as Bill listed, no trucks would have ha an 8". But an 8.8" on the other hand is what replaced the 9". See Bill's post for when the 9" was used in the F-150 and Bronco. After that (at least up to 1996) they used the 8.8". (I don't know or really care what Ford used in half ton trucks after that).
