Hi Guys
Noticed that all of a sudden my A/C seems to be at least partially on when the vent control is in the vent mode. Any input
Also, took off intake tube to get at some other stuff and noticed some oil pooling a little at the bottom of the turbo intake. Would that be just residual from the valve cover vent thingy (dog house?) or possibly indicate turbo seals leaking?
Thanks again for all your great knowledge base.
Describe the AC situation a little more in detail please.
The oil residue is absolutely from the Crank Case Vent (doghouse thingy). The CCV vents the pressure in the crank case into the intake tubes. Some eliminate it going back into the turbo and vent it to atmosphere, but i do not find anything wrong, and actually prefer the misting of the intake side of the turbo and piping.
Nope. It comes out of either the upper vents or the upper/floor vents depending which is selected. Seemed that the air was alot warmer in vent mode before. I don't mind the cooler air, but not familiar with the system. Would rather not have the a/c running in vent mode. Extra fuel consumption and wear and tear on compressor pump, etc.
Wondering if some relay stuck closed or something else amiss.
Have you looked under the hood to see if the AC clutch is engaged when you are in the Vent position? Let's verify that it is before trying to fix something.
Just watch it. If the pulley is turning, but not the clutch plate on the front of the compressor, it isn't engaged. If the whole thing is turning, it's engaged.

Thanks Mark,
I just assumed he knew the compressor was engaging. Know what happens when you assume
