hi everyone,
Just joined the forum here after buying a project truck: 2001 F250 supercab. the truck is in decent shape considering its a Michigan truck and has 200k on it. the truck is only 2x4 so it wont be the best in the snow but the main purpose of the truck is for work. Also i got the truck for $1350 which in my opinion inst too bad... Anyway i plan on tearing it down and rebuilding/ replacing what needs to be done and getting rid of all the rust. I also want to update the front end with new 2005 headlight and grille and am debating over keeping stock bumper or creating my own bumper for the truck(i have build one previously which came out really well)...
well anyway im not to sure what i want to do as far as paint goes so any suggestions(pics would be nice) would be helpful. Also as for lift and bigger rims and tires i really dont have that kind of cash yet so thats a future project but would be interested in a leveling kit.
Thanks
forgot to mention the truck was a one owner truck so thats worth a lot right there.... Also it does have the 5.4. Any help with the direction i should take the truck would be must appreciated
Good luck, and I agree with Wizkid who provided some very good builds especially ametzker's on a budget rust repair build great work!
Subscribing but don't ever plan on having to do that kind of rust repair on my trucks You never know though wife may want to move back to WNY when I retire in 8 years. '''
Hey everyone thank you for the replies! ametzker's build is almost exactly what ill be doing minus the front end swap to 08. It wasnt in as good of shape as mine. i Want to just a slight update to the 05 front end.. plus my fenders and hood are in great shape... i have gotten a bunch of work already done on it. Ill post pics tomorrow....Still debating on the color... Im really thinking blue like bluescab's truck(https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ld-thread.html)
Also guys i do plan on making this a build thread
Also i am a certified mig and tig welder and im going to college right now for automotive restoration.... with that said i will be doing everything myself or its not getting done.....
Thanks buddy. I was just reading Tritons first post and thinking to myself "This sounds very similar to my very first post." Good luck Triton and keep at it. My neighbors have seen the process take place outside my house and they have been pretty impressed. If you are just upgrading to the 05 front end you will have a much easier time than I did. I have done a couple 05 front ends and they're pretty straight forward. I will keep an eye for updates.

Yeah you will have the upper hand there lol. I'm motorcycle tech by trade. A mile wide and an inch deep.
Yup... Your truck came out sweet btw... how much did you end up spending on the truck in all the work (if u don't mind me asking)?
Well I still have to tally it up but I figure I'm about $600 over my budget so $800 for the truck and probably $2,300 into the build. $3,100-$3,500 at most total. I'm ok with that. I don't think I would do it again if I would've know all the dark secrets of that truck in advance. Yours is much nicer to start with. Mine was beaten to death and then dug up from the grave just to beat it a little more.

Man that's not bad at all.... that will be about the price range ill shoot for.... I take it that's not including the rims and tires though right? cause tires alone are like 1k...
well sorry guys for the bad resolution pics but i couldn't find my camera today..... anyway i got the bed, the rear bumper, the tow hitch, the grille, the headlights, and the spare tire hoist off.
Nice. Looks like you have some busted bed bolts to deal with.... Frame looks good. Under the bed looks challenging.... You can replace those crossmembers with unistrut if need be.
