hey guys been about a week and a half since i last updated the forum... anyway its coming along im getting close to pulling the motor... i have the whole front end off, the exhaust, and im working on the wiring and the intake manifold.... also what do u guys think about turbo charging the motor? This is kinda what i was thinking: Ford F-250 5.4L Turbo Upgrade | DrivingLine... being my first real project vehicle i know nothing about how to set up turbos and if its even worth my time and money... any help would be appreciated
I'd really like to try the turbo at some point. The numbers are very impressive. He lists all the parts used, but you would need the tune for the engine and to fabricate the custom piping. If they sold the tubing as a kit, I think it would be a very do-it yourself project. Without that or the tune, I think it is definitely not for the faint of heart.
It may be worth calling that shop and talking to the guy

Yeah ill keep u guys updated on what i do... if i do turbo it i will build the setup all my self.... i just dont know exactly where everything needs to go without blowing something up.....Also the college im going to has a dyno so i should be able to get them to help me tune it. ill do more research into what it takes to turbo a motor and what not... but for now im focused on getting the engine rebuild and getting rid of the rust....the turbo will come after i paint the truck and rebuild the engine so i have a while to figure out what im gonna do... thanks for your guys help...
hey guys got a decent amount of work done the last couple days to my truck... got the gas tank off, the fuel rails, started cleaning up the frame and got the engine out also since i live on 10 miles of dirt road and my dad has a black truck and car its impossible to keep them clean so i have decided im going to go with white for the exterior of the truck and a set of custom bumper ill make up....

Great work so far despite the rust issues you may have had it looks good just clean up frame a little and you be good to go!
Great progress ProjectTriton
as posted in my thread from Ford`05HG: "a 5.4L but I believe I read from a number of people here that those motors will hold 15 lbs of boost just fine on stock internals, which is good for about 600 hp. That'll definitely wake the truck up."
so either turbo or supercharger is good to go
Well guys been a while since I last posted... I ended up going on vacation for a week and a half to Florida...had a blast....anyway for the truck, I was able to finish cleaning up the frame, por15 prepped the frame and first coat of por15 on the frame... Its looks like new I'll be sanding it tomorrow and applying a second coat of por15 and a coat or two of top coat... Here is how she looks right now... I'll keep ya guys posted
This thing is looking good. Youre doing great by saving this thing from rust. Also, make sure you document that turbo setup really well. Im strongly considering it for my truck.
Hey guys been a long time since I posted... Anyway I got the engine back in(didn't rebuild just changed intake, valve cover gaskets, timing chain and gaskets, rear main seal, oil pump, water pump, and a couple of other things) and all the mechanics back together and well I put the fluids in last night and all looked good but today(haven't even started it and there is a small bit of coolant from the drivers side... I'm thinking it's the head gasket is there anyway to fix this so I don't have to take it all back apart and out? Like leak stop or something?
nvm thanks for the reply... I think I found it..lol I put the gasket under the thermostat rather than on it and well it was leaking where I couldn't see it and it was causing it to look like it was coming out by the headgasket...

well actually I was debating that... but I think with the rims black, taillights tinted, side markers black, white front and rear bumpers, black hood guard, and custom white and black grille it should look sweet... if after I paint it and I feel like something is missing I might either do the crème two tone or a black(truck bed coating) two tone...
tonight I'm goning to start her up hopefully everything is all good
