Wide windshield chrome, hard to find? Where to find?

It looks really good on these trucks, I can't find it aftermarket, did I miss a page of the catalogues? How much should I expect to pay when I find it?

You are right the wide windshield chrome (actually polished stainless) does look good. If you are planning on putting it on your Truck just know...this is not a easy install. It was the absolute hardest thing I installed (re-installed, re-installed) on my truck. I even called in a professional installer and he nearly gave up after about an hour and a half.

If you find it a get it on without breaking a bunch of stuff, you have my respect!

You'll also have to get the correct weatherstrip to go with it. You'll need the weatherstrip for the "wide trim".

You're correct, it was the hardest part of my restoration. I even had a friend that installs windshields for a living help and when he showed up he told me I had the wrong weatherstrip. I told him no, I did not have the wrong one. Then he told me he wasn't going to do it due to the wide trim. I told him that I was gonna have to get someone else then because I wanted it back on my truck. He finally did install the window with the wide trim but was not happy about it. The truck really looks great with it installed. I have got many compliments on it at shows! -Ed

That's probably the biggest "dread" I've got ahead of me.
I think the wide trim really adds to the look of the truck. Mine came from the factory with it. When I had the chrome pieces replated I had Advanced polish the windshield trim too. Being stainless steel, it polished to a mirror finish.
I think it'll look great.... once it's installed .

I have two complete used sets but I am planning on keeping them for personal use if I ever get around to restoring my truck. They are on ebay occasionally for around $50 and if you find a junkyard truck they are pretty easy to remove. Just take the top pieces off first by lifting the end and pulling to the side of the truck out of the weatherstripping. and sides pull up and out. Then same with bottom pull to sides of truck.

Almost all the used ones I have seen have a few rock dings.

Stainless steel windshield reveal mouldings: 1973/76 F100/350; 1977 F100/350 before serial number O80,001.

1973/79 F500/880 Custom Cabs.

D3TZ-1003110-E .. Windshield Weatherstrip-Use with stainless steel reveal mouldings.

1977 F100/350 from serial number O80,001; 1978/79 F100/350 & Bronco use a one piece flexible chrome plastic moulding. The weatherstrip is also different.

btw: If the weatherstrip is hard, getting the stainless mouldings from it without removing the windshield from the truck can be a real b!tch.

Installation: The mouldings are installed on the weatherstrip FIRST .. then the weatherstrip is installed on the windshield.

Everything said here is absolutely correct!...it took 6 hands (literally three of us) to hold it in place then install with the windshield. Praying we did not hear or see the dreaded crack. The whole time I am encouraging the installer not to give me my money back and please don't give up!

But it is gorgeous!!!...I powder coated mine gloss black, black is my chrome!

I'm about to put my windshield in with wide chrome. A high rated auto glass shop said it could take 2-3 hours. I'm hoping when we do it we just toss it in with no problems!
