Angry 1956 Custom Cab front windshield Chrome

I'm trying to install the chrome trim that fits around the windshield. Do I have to remove the windshield to do that. If not how is it installed?

The windshield needs to be removed. You will also have to buy a new seal that has the GROVE in it for the chrome. Then install the new rubber onto the windshield and then install the chrome in the grove in the rubber and then install the entire assembly. If you have never done this before, you'll be in need of some assistance.

These are a pain to install with the chrome trim.

Any tricks doing this? Does the trim stay in without falling out of the groove. I'm getting ready to do this. Any advice will help.

I just did this. As stated - rubber then trim while glass is out. I had someone on the inside of truck and made sure everything was centered before removing the rope from the inside of cab. I started in center and worked to pass side then drivers side - pulling the rope slowly while pressure was placed on outside of glass. Go slow and it will be fine

The way the stainless steel trim is shaped makes it impossible to install in the rubber seal without bending the seal back to slide in the trim. With the glass in place the rubber seal is fixed and will not bend as needed to make the installation of the trim possible.
