i bought a 68 f100 and when i got it the chrome trim on the right side on the windsheild was off. the rubber around the windsheild has a groove, and the chrome has a L shaped notch on the back, i have tried everthing to get this back on. i even messed up one peice and i thought i would ask before i tore up the new piece. is there a secret to getting the chrome back on... thanks
I can tell you that on a VW, you install the trim in the rubber. Then you put the rubber around the windshield. The last step is to install the windshield.
Well, sad to say the windshield has to be removed to get the chrome in. The trim is placed in the groove before the windshield goes in place, and the force of the cab against the rubber is what holds it in. Sometimes when the rubber gets cracked and hard a piece will pop out.
I have tried to install one of these myself to no avail. I would HIGHLY recommend taking in to a knowledgable glass shop.
