Hi all, a thousand bucks later and my wheels are on! I'm still trying to figure out my hubcap situation though. I have some period ones, but they need to be repainted.

For inspiration, here's what I did to a $10 set of early F-250 hub caps. Tons of masking!
Those look great! What kind of paint did you use? How did you prep them? I want to sandblast mine, but I don't have a blasting cabinet and I'm tired of paying people to do things...

Thanks!
I don't have a blast cabinet nor did I have them blasted.
I used electrolysis to dissolve the rust. Yes, dissolve. Cheap to do..a box of washing soda, a battery charger, some sacrificial steel, and a plastic 30 gallon tote. A very thorough but you must exercise patience because it takes time - usually overnight. Go here for info: Electrolysis - Rust Removal
The silver and black are engine enamels as are the red (actually Chevy orange!), white, and Ford blue.. each color was masked separately. Here is my truck's thread which highlights the process... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...n-71-f250.html
Nice looking truck Planejet!
Very time consuming on your hub caps Hio! Good job.I repainted the "Mercury" head/bust on a set of 5 caps from a '55 Mercury a year or 2 ago. Tricky masking!
Look at a Ford truck brochure. I have a 75 F-150 XLT Ranger. There's a bright red one on
on the brochure cover. I found a set of wheel covers at the Jefferson swap meet for $10. ea.
A stock steering wheel ran $20. I placed an ad in Craigs List for tires. I got a set of near new Firestones on rims for $300. and a used spare. My son remounted & balanced them for $10 each....white strip out. I sold the fat tires and spoked rims for $150. Such-A-Deal.
