Being added to the fleet this weekend is a 71 F250 Custom (2WD)... F25YRLxxxxx
That translates to a 360-2V outta San Jose. It has a 74 DSO (Seattle) and originally sold outta Medford, OR. It's mostly unmolested except for the dang bedside hooks. Oh well. Dana 60 with 4.10 gears behind a T-18 four speed trans. It regularly towed a ski boat early in its life through the early 80s and on highway duty and light hauling since... the seller is my department secretary's ex-husband for a flat $1,000.
Power steering and power drum brakes. Original color is Regis Red with a black vinyl interior. Comes with a CD deck and the bed tool box. As clean as it is, I'm thinking long term restoration since it's alot better starting material than my 70 which you may know is staying ugly on the outside but modded and cleaned up underneath. But maybe it'll become a prerunner... dunno yet.
1000 BUCKS? Holy cow Hio! Look at that dash pad. Look at that seat. Look at the armrests. Straight body. Shiney paint. OMG what a steal. You want to flip it? PM me. I'm not in to Arrest Me Red usually but.........
Congrats ! looks like a very nice truck for $1000.00
i'd be tempted to flip it for some profit .
That's exactly what I'm thinking... maybe. At this point it seems I have more money than sense because I'm gonna have to schlep parking it either at my neighbor's house or a currently vacant rental (which is accounting for ZERO.. ZIPPo.. NADA... work on the Lo-Buck Bump).

Yah man...that's why I couldn't pass it up... you'll be first on my list if it goes in that direction.
'Met with the owner today... the wife stored the title in a safety deposit box so we couldn't complete the deal. We're on a handshake and he's a square guy. He's needing to sell it because of a diabetic condition and his left leg is in a soft cast and can't really drive the rig anymore. However, it completed a 400-mile trip a few weeks ago which added to the over 200K miles on 'er. As an original owner, he's kept up with the mechanical issues and it is regularly serviced. The king pin caps are still shiny!
The test drive went well. Brakes are tight (all drums) and a sudden stop will have snot flying out your nose. The steering doesn't wander and the T-19/4.10 rear gear combination can get a heavy tow moving with no problem. It hadn't run for about three weeks so he pumped the gas about five times and she roared to life with no smoke out of the tail pipe (singular)... it's got the typical Y-pipe to a single muffler and tubing which looks relatively new. Floor pans, cab corners, roof rails (!), and door corners are solid.
All electrical systems work.
Oh, all the 16.5-inch split rims were ditched about five years ago and replaced with 16s wearing 245/70-15s... the 16-inch spare is virgin.
It's got warts... namely painted-over body damage on the front right of the bed, a wide but shallow dent on the door, and a soft crease on the roof - all as a result of teaching his step-daughter how to drive... a stud gun to pull 'em out is definitely in my future. The bed has a rust hole that is easily repairable.
The grill shell is pushed in at the bottom but I'm confident it can be slowly pulled it out. The chrome (!) bumper has some nice patina... I've got the nice one from the LBB to replace it. The rear bumper just needs some wire-wheeling and a fresh coat of silver spray bomb. The door bottoms have been cut for 6.5-inch speakers but hey, it's got a CD player which is nice.
Hio, that color is Calypso Coral, color #1. My 72 F-100 had the same color.
Sweet. Thanks for the keen eye. I like it...moreso than Regis Red (Code 4) which is kinda dark.

10-4 Grinner... now what to do with it .... if anything. At this point I think I'll be content to just clean 'er up, keep it roadworthy, and s-l-o-w-l-y restify it. On the way home I did ponder making it a prerunner but that would be better with a C6.
