How has the bulletproof EGR cooler worked for everyone? I currently have the EGR delete, but was advised to install the upgraded and improved EGR cooler by Bulletproof.......Is this recommended and does it work well? I currently have the cab off RE-DOING head gaskets for a second time...
One reason you are getting that recommendation is as I understand it the Y pipe will crack with a delete (not maybe, it is a when), the cooler provides extra support. I don't have a BPD cooler but mine is the same style as they make, and for your '06 you definately want to replace the factory one with the much stouter tube style.
Other reasons you should go with the BPD unit is they are CARB approved, I don't know of another that is, and they have a lifetime warranty. So you would have a 50 state legal EGR cooler.
I think since BPD came out with their cooler, and I'd say a large majority of folks that swap out their '05+ EGR coolers for a bullet proof one, chose BPD, I have read of one single failure...
The shop that did the work on my truck was a BPD dealer, we held mine next to a BPD unit and they looked identical. If I did it all over though I would have spent the extra money for the BPD, mainly for that CARB sticker...
