What about the under seat storage in the front middle seat? I'm not talking about the flip up part.
It adds a little bit more, true, but still not as much as the full console. My biggest complaint about the under seat storage is that first you need to flip the console seat up, then raise the lower part...so its a bit of a pain. I typically ride with the middle seat lowered into a console so I have an armrest. I guess if you rode with it up all the time, that underseat space is pretty handy.
Eh...not enough for me. I have it in my 2016. The difference in space between the flip console and the permanent console is pretty massive. Not enough space in the flip console to stash my 9mm inside.
I can live with either, but I prefer the full console. I'm happy for you guys that like the flip console / seat, though, that you can still get it.
I installed a vault in the flip console for my 45 and any other wmd I might have with me. The "Console Vault" is available as an option but unfortunately there is no information about which compartment the factory is installing it in or what size it is. I will wait and order it aftermarket, probably cheaper anyway.

I'd love to see a picture of your setup.
I have two major concerns: having easy access to the weapon, and being able to secure it when I am out of the vehicle. My last 2015 truck had the full console, and you could basically install a holster inside the console. Lift the lid, and voila. Yet the lid of the full console could be locked with a key...meaning even if you accidentally sat on the remote key and unlocked the truck, your weapon remains somewhat secure.

I keep my 9mm concealed on my body. Having it in the pickup does no good when you are away from the pickup and things go wrong.
I will send one later. It fits in the fold down center console (2001) and locks with a round key. It screws into the sides of the console with four heavy self tappers. Once the console lid is down it is invisible and the only way someone could violate it in a short period of time would be to pry the entire console out of the truck. I don't know how well they are affixed to the seat but most criminals would not take the time to go after it. I felt it was necessary with more and more spaces denying my CC right and I not wanting to leave anything out for the occasional breaking. (I have spent a lot of time working in and around cities and have had 7 break ins over the past 35 years. Expensive, violated and damn angry is about all I can say about it.)
