Coolant?
New here to 6.7 forums. Purchased in late January. I noticed the coolant is dex cool? Wasn't that a big problem with gm vehicles? I see they got away from the ford gold I had in my 6.0. I had change it over to elc when we did studs. My question is , are there problems with these trucks and this coolant and people change to elc or is the dex cool a good choice so far?

This is an entirely new formula of the coolant. Yes, the color is different than the one you see in the Chevys right now, just an additive. As far as I know, there has not been the first problem with the new trucks with this coolant. I will only buy the coolant from Ford for my trucks as I just don't want to chance a warranty issue.

The Specialty Orange coolant was designed for the 6.7L engines and other engines that Ford has and is developing now. It's Ford's next generation coolant. It is an OAT based coolant, vs Nitrate based coolant that Ford Gold was. Whether it's the same as Dex Cool or not, I have no idea.
You probably won't have to buy any until you flush the system, At that time, I'd just buy the Ford product and be safe. It's reasonible priced and has a suggested life of 105,000 miles

^^ What he said! I was loosing coolant last year, and my radiator hose was collapsing when it cooled. Turned out to be a bad cap. Additionally, when my dealership would do the coolant test on my truck they were siphoning off over a cup of coolant, and not refilling it. I thought I had some strange leak till I watched the guy draw coolant for my last test. Now I always keep a gallon of the premix in the garage, and know to refill when I bring the truck home after a coolant test.
