Hey guys, I have a 2006 f150 Lariat, and I crawled underneath and I seen this, not sure if it's a problem or not. There's no leaking or dripping on the ground but I'm just making sure this doesn't look like a problem to you guys
That's the axle breather tube, it ties into the brake distribution block.
First, check to see whether it's brake fluid or gear oil. If it's brake fluid you may need to change the rear flex hose to repair the leak. If it's gear oil, looking at the picture, it looks like the rear may have been serviced recently. I see what looks like silicone RTV oozing out around the edges of the diff cover. Check to see if the rear has been overfilled.
In the picture, it looks like the vent hose is soaked with oil, so I'm betting the rear diff has been overfilled.
the hose is a vent and allows air pressure inside the axle to expand and exit.. Make sure the hose is not plugged and make sure it is not bent at the top to form a P-trap.
