Screechy sound?

Started up my rig yesterday and heard a very strange screechy sound that got louder when I rev'ed the engine. After a minute or two it went away. Same sound this morning and whenever the truck sits for more than an hour. Sounds like a turbo problem and is coming from that area under the hood...any thoughts?

I can record the sound, but I think someone here might have had the same experience.

Take off your serpentine belt and see if it goes away for a quick start. Could be a tensioner or idler pulley

I will definitely check the belt! But the sound is not coming from the front of the truck...

OK, I isolated the sound to the turbo area the sound is like a loud dissonant whistle/ringing sound. It goes away within a few seconds of starting(20-30) It's definitely coming from turbo area....sticky vanes?

Well it could be turbo, but I vaguely recall my V10 doing something like you describe.

Could it be the heat system. Vacuum or blower motor?

Sure, it could be ANYthing with a bearing that is not getting oil or going out. That's why the 1st thoughts were the belt tension or pulley. OP says it's at the Turbo.

Agree, but turbo area as op states could be a whistling sound coming from HVAC system. Mine will whistle like that for a few seconds, when it's really cold out.

The HVAC system is kinda close to the turbo area.

If it is cold, the power steering pumps notoriously sound screechy and then goes away fairly quickly....just another possibility.
