Haha..nice. What was the deal with that thing sticking out like that?
I can only assume the latch broke off at some point so he went to a friend with a harbor freight welder and they decided lets bend this coat hanger into a latch and weld it on as quickly and ugly as possible.... Took a few steps back, looked it over and said looks great, now I can open the hood to get to my antifreeze bottle that's just sitting in there. Drank a few beers, years later never touched it again. Then sold it to me lol but that's just how I picture it going down
Thanks! The garage is no longer that clean thanks to grinnergetter lol

What a great story, that's something you'll look back on years from now with a smile.
Yeah PO's engineering is going to be my headache for a while haha

Good call getting a truck out of tx too.
Thanks, after spending years looking for a decent Highboy in the Midwest... I gave up and broaden my search... I was hoping Texas or Arizona to get a rust free(ish) truck
Well a few weeks ago made a trip to Illinois and bought a set (3) of drive shafts so hopefully soon I can get the transfer case installed, get rid of the crap the PO did and finally get 4x4 back. Which will be handing seeing as I got my truck stuck not too long ago and had to get my 03 to pull her out. Also decided to see what this piece of junk muffler really was doing so I chopped it off. Here's how she's going to sound until I get the urge to fix it

does it have the 360FE( what it sounded like to me) I may have missed engine size somewhere?
In the process of swapping core supports and I stumbled upon this... What is it? Lol I seem to be asking that a lot on this truck lately. Wasn't hooked up and PO had it shoved against the core support/battery box. Also you can see how great my battery was secured
Only thing I can think of is block heater because what else on a truck has a plug like that? Lol
Forgot to post these here, what sparked the core support swap was my leaking radiator hoses. Well figured while the radiator was drained it was a good time for the swap. This is my thermostat housing that was taken off.
Well couldn't get the frame bolts out for the core support so while they soaked in PB blaster I looked to close and decided to replace the water pump too lol. After that I finally was able to get the core support out so now I just need some new nuts/bolts for the core support, and get the parts ordered so I can get it all back together, and hopefully solve my coolant leak! Also thanks to grinnergetter, here's the new core support next to my old core support.
