The wire plug, one is for your choke and the other I forgot. As for the spider webbing on the cover, that's normal from the casting of the cover from the manufacturer.
If it's one thing I really hate to do, it's working in the cold. Sometimes it's just better to wait till it's warmer out.

So our trucks were actually equipped with factory wiring for the choke?
Let me know when your ready to weld. I'll give you a day or two.
Keep at it....I learned more than i ever wanted to know about Ford trucks during my resto. Forgot most of it since then.
Will do thanks!

Haha thanks, I'm definitely no pro but I enjoy learning! I've thought about doing videos for some of the things I've done but I don't have a good camera or anything.

Any idea where it plugs into? I wasn't aware I had an electronic choke.
I was thinking if I got a painless or American wire harness the problem would solve itself with the extra wires lol
And thanks just wanted to make sure the aluminum wasn't compromised or anything weird that I'd regret later for not noticing

Also, any pics or diagrams that help me find where to plug it in? I thought my choke was vacuum operated?

Yep got the helicoil installed today, way easier than I was thinking.
Made some progress with some 60° weather today! Got the rust off the water pump, did a quick paint job, decided to paint the fan, alt bracket and pulley while it was off. Drilled out and installed the the helicoil... much easier than I was expecting. Let's hope it holds up! Just need to order some gaskets (water pump, fuel pump, timing cover, and front main seal) and then I can start reassembling. Oh and while looking for ways to clean my timing cover off, a buddy on the f150forum (where I'm at for my 10th gen) mentioned dry ice blasting... never heard of it but we have 2 shops in town that do it so I'm going to call and get some quotes tomorrow. Here are some progress pics

Awesome, thank you I'll have to do some searching tomorrow. Haven't seen a missing plug but then again I now know the PO likes to tape up anything and everything electrical lol. Also sometimes I forget how big that ac box is... silver linings to not having ac lol
Edit* discovered the timing cover is a one size fits all for older engines so some engines had a smaller pointer used on it. I'll attach that pic too in case anyone else has this question in the future
So noob question.. why do I have a threaded hole behind my timing mark?
Also if the timing cover was bare aluminum from factory; what color was the timing mark? Mine is steel so it needs to be painted... currently painting it the silver of my water pump and thermostat housing

So looking at my truck, yeah I have that wire on the left hand side, but where it plugs in and goes off to the right is what I'm trying to figure out. I don't have any plugs just hanging around. Here's my carb and engine bay in case someone spots something I don't
Also for those who might know or can get me a wiring diagram, here's the extra plugs I was talking about. They are on the plug with my (+) side of the coil wire and plug into nothing. Pay no attention to the electrical tape, that's where I taped up the kill switch
When I replaced my water pump I couldn't ever find the lower radiator spring for sale so I said screw it and didn't put it back in... well since I'm here again I figured I'd look for the part again. Finally found it from national parts depot! $5 so I'm going to buy it and toss it in... That's cheap insurance if you ask me.
Also found my old one to make sure the sizes were the same... (I have a box where I just throw everything in that I take off the truck.) looks like it's actually smaller than what NPD shows going in my truck (old = 1.5" OD and new = 1.625" OD) But I'm sure bigger is always better lol my hose ID is 2" so either way I'm good.
