Halfway there
I looked in my rear view, and saw a tow truck, minivan attached to the rear, barreling down past the curve, ready to slam into me. This guy was going way over the limit, and apparently didn't even notice me yet, because he wasn't even slowing down! I had nowhere to go -- metal barrier on the right, traffic coming in the opposite direction on the left, and no way I could accellerate enough to get in front of the wrecker and avoid the accident. I braced for impact, and in a quick gas-brake maneuver inched my truck forward until I was as far into the opposite lane as I could get without hitting oncoming cars. I closed my eyes as I heard the loud BANG, CRASH sounds, and opened them up to see the tow truck and attached minivan had barely squeezed into the opening on my right, hitting the metal barrier in the process but avoiding my truck. Given the widths of my truck and the wrecker, I can't imagine him missing me by more than an inch!
