I now drive 85 miles round trip, I used to drive 150 miles round trip and I loved every minute of it. It was just right to where it didnt interfere with anything I had going on at home, yet it gives me time to reflect on work itself and plan and think and make decisions.
I drive about 1 1/2 miles each way from my regular job. Takes five minutes if I hit the lights wrong, and maybe another three-five if I have to wait on a train. Part-time job is about fifteen minutes away in the opposite direction, across town. If I work late and traffic isn't bad, the drive home is kind of relaxing, but otherwise I'd rather get home and off the streets.
I'm only about 10 miles away from my apartment right now. In the mornings (5:30)...it takes about 15 minutes. In the evenings (5:30)...it takes about an hour and a half. The commute isn't bad, but the driving while AT work is what kills me. I've been averaging 45,000 miles a year; probably 1500 this week alone.
right out of college I was living in Chambersburg PA and commuting to Washington D.C. everyday. I would drive through the entire state of Maryland to get to work. I think it was about 120 miles one way. That was alot of driving. Now my commute is only 15 miles.
I have a 8 minute trip one way it use to be 3 minute but we move the shop across the river. The building we were in was sold and new tenets want to make the old factory into high end apartments. Silly rich New Yorks thinking someone here can afford to pay $1500 a month for a one bed room Apartment.

My last job was 80 miles round trip. It was a nice way to unwind on the way home, but getting 16.5 mpg really hurts. I figured that it cost me about $2500 per year just to go to work.
