Leaky hydro boost

I've got a leak around my hydro boost and I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. I haven't investigated it closely as to where it is actually leaking but was wondering if there was a "common" leak in this area. I'm not seeing anything on any of the hard lines coming from the brake booster but the crimped area that attaches the hard line to the flex line is wet. It also appears I've got some fluid on the bottom of the booster. From looking at the schematics it looks like the wet flex line is part of the return circuit to the PS reservoir. I apparently have lost quite a bit as the fluid in the reservoir is off the dipstick and there is a coating all over the drivers side control arm. I'll keep investigating but if anybody has experienced this before would love to hear what it ended being.

hydroboost
Checkout this link, hope it works I sent it from my phone. If the leak is internal this might work. The hydroboost is the same one in Chevy and Dodge so ignore the Duramax forum.. lol. You can purchase a seal kit and fix it yourself. From the comments it seems like the fix is hit and miss. I tried it with a seal kit purchased from a different place this website suggested and the main seal tore a little when putting it back together. My leak isn't as bad as it was. It doesn't drip anymore and the brakes feel more firm. When I get more time I want to attempt it again with the kit this website suggests. Hope it helps.

That was just what I was hoping to hear. Like I said, I hadn't done a lot of investigating yet, didn't even know there was a weep hole underneath the unit. I imagine hat s what's happening as I can't find any obvious leak point on the hoses, they're just damp with PS fluid. I would bet the return line just happens to be routed right under the weep hole. Runs down the hose and drips off in different spots depending on how much braking/fluid is being used. Thanks for the info...now to find a spare four hours.

If you go this route would you mind reporting back here with your results. I'm just curious to see how it works out for you.

Toomanytoys, aka Jack would I'm sure can add some input here if he happens across this post.
I suspect a very slight leak as well in that area on my truck, however not sure if it's just over concern or legit.

They do develop seal leaks. Typically the failure for a HB are debris from a damaged pump or steering box screwing up the boost operation, not the seal. I typically have not recomended trying a rebuild as I've not seen a great rate of success even from good mechanics. If someone has the time, money and doesn't mind doing the work it can be worth a try. The two warnings is if it completely fails your brakes are greatly diminished, and second is to make sure you hit the brake a dozen times with the motor off to deplete the pressure in the accumulator. Most pro sites state it is not rebuildable due to these concerns.

I'll be sure to report back with results. It may be a while before I'm able to get to it unfortunately. In the middle of a house build right now. I'll have to get a look at the bottom of the HB with a mirror first to locate the weep and see what's going on. If it does prove to be a leaky seal I'll give it a go with the repair kit and see what comes of it. Worst case I'm out time and $30.

my booster is leaking from the brake push rod on to my floor board. on the post in the duramax forum SMURFTRUCK posted that these seals were very difficult to replace. would it be better for me to just replace the hydro booster?
