My Hydroboost is leaking inside the passenger compartment through the firewall. Am I looking at a new unit or can this one be repaired? Is one from the wreckers a good idea or not? No issues with the brakes, just the leak. Thanks
Well I went to the u-pick wreckers today and picked one up for $75. Hope this does the job. Would like to rebuild my old one because it worked well. No issues. Only the leak where the rod from the brake pedal goes into the hydro-boost unit. Anyone know where a rebuild kit can be had?
It was leaking ATF. I had stuffed some paper towels under the carpet and underneath the hydro-boost. It was definitely red and smelt like ATF. A shame I can't just replace a seal because the hydro-boost is not giving me any problems. I have not put in the unit I bought at the wreckers yet. In a few days when I get time.
Thanks for the link. I can now see why the whole unit gets replaced when there is a problem. After reading the service instructions and determining that I have a staked pedal rod, it looks like I would also have to buy an input rod kit and a replacement pedal rod. So I figure, after all that a rebuilt unit may be the way to go. Too bad that the pedal rod was not of a design that would allow for easy disassembly/assembly of the hydroboost unit. Being that this is brakes, I would not want to mickey-mouse the pedal rod and have it fail while I am driving. If the wrecker unit does not do the job, I do not feel so bad about paying for a rebuilt unit. Thanks
