HFCM question
Mine has had it and all the local dealers are out of the both the aftermarket brass one and the
steel Ford one.AND to top that off no one sells the O-ring by itself. My option is go to the local
hydraulic shop and buy some made out of Viton® and when I say some I will have a few extra
for when the one in it ages. I also found that the oil filler O-ring seems to degrade into much.
So I think I'll get that one also in Viton®.
Then the next question. Is the water trap on the suction side of the pump? I think I may be
getting air in the fuel. The truck is running like a PIG still after the new injector. IDS Power Balance
trace is nice and flat with the normal tiny bumps.
My plans tonight are to do an Air Test just to rule out any HPOP leaks. The reason I am also thinking that
is when I reinstalled the stand pipe I may of snagged the D-ring. The one trick I have not tried yet and will
do before the Air Test is to pull the ICP sensor plug and see how it starts.

Guess I know where I am going Monday.
Any thoughts on the other things?
Oh and I think I found the original HFCM plug in my junk box. May pull the O-ring
from it or put it in for a short time.

thinking I would get a pint or 2 and I got less than a shot glass. I got to looking
after I found that plug I had was the wrong one for it. But I found an O-ring in
the junk box that did not look like the Pit had also chewed it and passed it out the
rear end of the dog. New O-ring in and tried to start and nada. So I pulled the ICP
plug and Vroom. I think it might of started without doing that by the cloud of diesel
smoke I got. Let it run to warm up and it even felt smoother just sitting letting it
warm up. Put the IDS on and had a look see. Looked good so I went for a drive after
rechecking the drain to be sure it was dry and it was. Went up and down hills and on
some flats and not one stumble. Guess I should get a 5 pack of that O-ring to keep in
the tool box for the just in case times. I'll post a photo of the dead O-ring and a Youtube
of the Power Balance test a bit later.

Well now a few days into the "fix" and all is still happy. The lesson learned from this is to have a
few extra O-rings for the water separator drain on hand.
Aerated fuel makes it run like you unplugged an injector while driving down the road.

I just hope that I did not harm an injector. Also now that I am thinking about it I wonder
if that dead #1 injector is really dead. I hope to have some extra fun $ this spring and may
just finish off the set and do the other 5 injectors.
