I think I've heard it involves cutting the front of the pickup frame off and welding the front of a Crown Vic on. It doesn't seem like a simple swap.
Oh.. yea not too interested in cutting up the frame. I was hoping it was more along the lines of welding on brackets for the a-arms and be done with it. Need to get to the JY and have a look under a vic.
...I've heard of people swapping in the crown vic front suspension, so that could be a possibility.. can't find much information on it though.
There is a ton of info on it in the dent forum...
You have to cut the frame off the CV so you can keep the mounting bolt sleeves, but if you take out the truck front suspension it should mount up.
Look at pauli3wood's "F100 Viking" build in the 73-79' forum for motivation. He took ALOT of pics and is a great fabricator, should shed some light on it.
Couple pages into the F100 rebuild, awesome sir! Exactly what I was looking for thank you.
There are a ton more if you search it
His is by far the cleanest swap I've seen on here. His skills and attention to detail are phenomenal; the fact that he's doing it in his garage just goes to show it can be done. Also look at Hackster's build in the Bump forum. He's putting a 5.0 Coyote motor in his truck along with a CV swap
